short notes:
will brady's ruminations
harvest season
Deer hunting with bow started on 15 september. I had one guy quite willing to invite himself to the areas I hunt, but I hunt alone and avoided the query. Nothing with meat so far but did find a nice batch of
Armillaria mushrooms in one place I visit. That'll make a tasty soup.
Coming this weekend,
Moodus Sportsman's Club's annual Harvest Dinner. We used to call it the "Pig Roast" but this year, thnaks to a bountiful catch last season, we decided to focus more on game dishes. That is, after all, what the club is about. This Saturday, 24 September is the event. All afternoon. $14 adults / $5 kids under 12. e-mail me at will.brady@gmail.com if you want tickets.
so now I'm a merchant
with a wide angle lens I could get this in a single shot | This is my shop space at the
Essex Old Saybrook Antiques Village | It's not antiques I'm selling as much as it is old stuff that I've enjoyed collecting but now no longer use |
Bruce and Buddy
already have a space there so here's my modest effort at selling "stuff" | As you can see, old globes, gun stocks, home-made cars, vinyl [mostly my father's 33 rpm album collection] and, of course, books, lots and lots of books.
The shop is on Route 154 in Old Saybrook, Connecticut halfway between exit 2 off Route 9 and exit 69 off Interstate 68.
news blips
In Pennsylvania
Rick Santorum has a real candidate runnning against him. There’s a Democrat from Pennsylvania name Chuck Pennacchio running for the party’s U.S. Senate nomination to challenge incumbent Sen. Rick Santorum in November 2006. And, TCF has it on personal authority that Chuck Pennacchio is the kind of Democratic candidate Howard Dean and the party say are our preferred leaders of the future. Of course, the old line party Dems need to step aside and let in new blood to compete.
While we weren't looking one typhoon left millions homeless in China and now a second leaves 300,000 more people displaced. While it's important to remain vigilant at repairing the damage done by Katrina, it's equally important we not lose sight of
how the weather terrorizes the rest of the world as well.
Drought, over-reliance jeopardize
the San Joaquin River. Western states need to pay heed to this. Our profiligate use of water in the west [perhaps best known in places like
Las Vegas] has long been a potential disaster waiting to happen. Wonder if FEMA is preparing for droughts in the west as well as they prepared for Hurricane Katrina.
Bush's Brain behind New Orleans political clean-up. Couldn't think a dirtier guy would be willing to do the job unless...
Big Dick Cheney's Halliburton gets the job. Abosultely disgusting! Now, what was that about those who commit
Economic Treason?

I wonder if Rove thought this one up as well |
