LIVABLE PLANET
33 years ago Frances Moore Lappe wrote a cookbook,
Diet for a Small Planet | It was, for the American kitchen, tantamount to a manifesto | Protien Complementarity, vegetarian diets, dense and crammed with philosophy behind the recipies and a strong sense of the urgency of saving the planet by being less wasteful |
Most everyone I knew bought a copy | Some of us actually used it | I use it still today | Although, as anyone who knows me knows, I'm about the farthest from a vegetarian as one could be | I'm a solid red-meat kind of guy |
Nevertheless, were I to even entertain the idea, it would b e more out of concern for sensible use of planetary resources | We
don't need to be devoting hundreds of thousands of acres of tillable soils to silage for feeding cattle, if we can feel millions more people growing high protein meatless foods on the same acreage |
With that in mind, this is to let you know the links on
Vegetarianism have been updated |
