MAY DAY CELEBRATIONS
It's raining here so no missle parades nor maypole dances will take place in my town |
It may seem incongruous that the Beltane Sabbat is associated with the international proletarian
Worker's Holidy or the Communist Bloc celebrations but they co-exist, and their are cultural roots are intertwined | One is, obviously, ancient and long preceeds the other |
The Workers' Labor celebration has some origin history in the Anarchist movement in Chicago during the last Gilded Age of the 1880-90s | Workers were castigated and beaten down by Industrialists 
full of hubris and unchecked power [Hmmm. Sounds like now] Eventully that social blister burst and the Haymarket Riots occurred | May Day became a memorialization of that movement |
Real Magick has a collection of articles on the origins of the Beltane Sabbat | Another popular May Day Celebrations site that, on May Day, at least, may exceed it's Geocities visitors' quota |
