Adieu, McKinley Street
The last trip home | This weekend past I went to my mother's house to save remaining items and discard stuff that no one seems to want | She was a pack rat, as am I, only I have to admit she seemed more organized about it than I am | Even though the house was almost empty, it took two days of my work and another two days working by by cousin Jim and his wife Laura to take the remaining things from the house | Much of it went to the curbside for pick-up |
While there on Monday, my last day at the house, I lost my own keys | I didn't discover this until just as I was getting ready to leave Philly, around 1730 hours, and with the pick-up truck so loaded with stuff that it scraped as I left the driveway | Luckily, I had a spare truck key in the glove compartment, the truck being wide open and packed because of the hot temps of the day |
As I began to write this little missive, I got a phone call from Jim + Laura | They found my keys out on the lawn, close to the peony bushes that had been moved some twenty years back from Clymer, PA to my mom's front yard | They had been Grandmother Buterbaugh's peonies |
|
Mentally, emotionally, this is a very strange time for me right now | This second photo is a sunset from the Frankford Hospital / Torresdale branch, taken Mother's Day 2005 |
SPECIAL THANKS TO: Mitch Deighan, who helped me find a new home for Peggy's big stand-up freezer and for agreeing to find "homes' for several big bozes of canning jars; to Fernando, who took the freezer home | And to MArge Clifton and Cathy Drissel for their kind words and solace while I dispensed with stuff | And thanks, as well, to Jim and Laura for arriving before I left so we got to spend a little time together |
POSTING CONUNDRUMThis is still a problem so I continue my picture posting approach to solving the matter | scroll down for all other postings |

TREASON OR SEDITION?
So KArl Rove appears to be the man who "outed" a working CIA operative, Valerie Plume | No surprise here | The question is whether or not he will be held accountable for this treacherous, if not actually treasonable, offense |
Other CIA Agents, Larry Johnson, Michael Grimaldi and Brent Cavan [all Republicans] testified about this act of exposure to Congress that:"We ...want to send a clear message to the political 'operatives' responsible for 'outing' Mrs. Wilson. Such action was treacherous, if not treasonous...Such action has allowed the less attractive aspects of politics to supersede the Government's responsibility to protect the citizens of this nation and the individuals who serve in difficult, dangerous covert capacities. This has set a sickening precedent. The 'senior Administration officials' who did this have warned all U.S. intelligence officers and the intelligence community that any one individual may be compromised if providing information or factual analysis the White House does not like."
"If left unpunished, this cowardly act [blowing Plame's cover] will not only hinder our efforts to recruit qualified individuals into the clandestine service, but it will have a far-reaching, deleterious effect on our ability to recruit foreign intelligence assets overseas. Who in their right mind would ever agree to become a spy for the United States when we cannot even protect our own undercover officers?"
