A list of who you call from your cell phone number is for sale. This almost makes BushCo's illegal wiretapping exercise seem beside the point. He could have just bought the information he sought.

It's not only government we need to watch on privacy issues: it's the corporations which act like they are kingdoms.
Actually, since coporations and churches ARE givernments, I thing we ought to recognize them as such. By so doing, this would REQUIRE that anyone who pledges fealty to any other body than the USofA be required to register as agents of foriegn powers.
This would mean that executives of big oil, big tobacco, multi-national food combines, religious leaders, are thus all ALIENS.
As aliens, they cannot serve in elected positions, nor can they vote. It would not eliminate the influence peddling, but it would make the playing field more transparent.
It may be no surprise that such an idea has much broader ramifications too extensive to discuss in this comments section.
