judgement day's acoming
When I was a teenager, I became enthralled with the likes of Jack Chick's Comics. Mind you, I was never converted to the somewhat rabid anti-Catholic evangelicism promoted by Mr. Chicks' bible tracts, I was more intrigued by his style, and, in part, by some [though not all] of the content.
And when I combined Chick's fire-and-brimstone moralism with the lessons learned from an odd assortment of conventional horror cominc books, the thing I learned was that greed and vanity never really pays off.
And it is from these lessons lessons that I sometimes receive vicarious consolation when confronted with the Dubya-Rummy-Cheney Satan cabal that runs the country.
For the lesson I learned was that if you sell your soul for fame, riches and power in this life, eventually, the payoff is that old sulfur-breath comes back to claim what is his.
And the sign-in-blood contractee gets whisked abruptly to a sentence of eternal damnation and horror.
Not unlike what we have with us today.
Ironically, those who sold their souls for fame, power, and adulation in this life, also began to themselves believe themselves immortal and above reproach.
They didn't have to go to Fundamentalists tracts to find this out. Any student of history [
something the Bush Administration is loathe to pay heed to] can easily discern is that bad deeds never go unpunished. And even if the perpetrators go uncaught in this realm of existence, the aftereffectos of their actions live far beyond their days into infamy.
The other lesson I learned was that those addicted to power, when confronted and challenged about the legitimacy of their cloak, fight all the more strenuously when that power is about to be wrested from them.
In the case of Dubya, it is not this specific regime that fights change from its probverbial intellectual stranglehold, but their supportors and those who came before them.
The degree of extremism exhibited and maintained by those illegitimately in power, is directly related to the strenousness with which they cling to that power, even to the point of trying to legislate being freed from being held accountable for their own actions.
The solution to this egregious abuse of authority? Quite simple, [and I believe that for things to work the following would occur] once those malefactors are stripped from their positions of authority, the public ...and their occasionally representrative members of governance, shall state, quite clearly "
Oh did we promise you immunity for your own actions?"
We're sorry, but now that your are on the trial stand, it will help for you to kjnow we never meant it and, we lied.
So lower that neck onto the chopping block. for there's a whole passel of other malefactors behind you waiting their turn at the block.
We lied about immunity. Get over it."
Time shall tell once again, you can bank on it.
