art show in hartford, ct
One of the works in the show. below are two more
I was invited to exhibit some of my work at an agency in Hartford, CT. So, since Thursday morning, there have been probably 60 photos and 15 additional works on display in the entry lobby area to the
Connecticut Department of Mental Health + Addiction Services, 410 Capitol Avenue, 4th floor.
The hours are weekdays 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Parking is difficult but you can use public parking behind 410 Capitol Avenue. Or you can make a day of it, park at the Legislative Office Building [two blocks east] and tour the LOB and the State Capitol as well.
The show doesn't include any controversial pieces. There are works, for instance, that I have completed that might be misconstrued if placed in an agency whose mandate is to provide services to people with psychiatric disorders and or problems with addictions. Given my own working role in that same service system, I wouldn't want to display works there that would, even if only momentarily, be inaccurately interpreted as pandering to prejudices the citizenry at large have about mental illness, for instance.
Anyway, what you have here are two of the black and white photos on display at the space. Readers and visitors to this site may have already seen some of the works I have on display in this show. Other works are yet to be put up here, so I'll make up for this in the days to come.
And for those who have the chance to, by all means, stop by and see the show. Comments and feedback, once you've seen it, are welcome and you can write me at my e-mail addy if you've gone and seen the presentation. One final note, the large blue circular work in the center of the hall is not mine. That is the official seal of the Department.
